Job summary

Shriners Children’s in Lexington, KY is seeking an Orthopedic Technician to provide assistance to physicians in the application, maintenance and removal of casts, traction, and Ilizarov devices.

You will inform patients and families, staff and students about the use and care of casts, traction and Ilizarov devices; monitors and orders casting and traction supplies and equipment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Preferred: 1+ year Orthopedic Technician experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs casting, traction and Ilizarov services under supervision of an Attending Orthopedic Surgeon.
• Communicates with patients, families and Interdisciplinary team to ensure effective therapeutic intervention.
• Monitors and orders casting and traction supplies and equipment.

Job Summary

Provides assistance to physicians in the application, maintenance and removal of casts, traction, Ilizarov device and other splint or motion device as prescribed. Informs patients / families, staff and students about the use and care of casts, traction and Ilizarov devices; monitors and orders casting and traction supplies and equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Performs direct and indirect patient care activities within the scope of practice of an Orthopedic Technician
• Performs casting, traction and Ilizarov services under the direction and supervision of an Attending Orthopedic Surgeon
• Demonstrates open, accurate and timely communication with patients/families and interdisciplinary team members to ensure effective therapeutic intervention. Maintains competency, adheres to standards of practice, recognizes own learning needs to maximize professional development and optimal patient care

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED

Preferred Qualifications

• 1+ years Orthopedic Technician experience
