Job summary

Ameristar Casino Vicksburg is seeking a Cage Cashier to manage cash handling, coin/token redemption, and guest service on the casino floor.

You will follow strict uniform and safety standards, protect company funds, and assist guests with a range of transactional duties, including cashing, tokens, and information provision.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; prior cash handling preferred.
• Ten-key calculator skills and strong math ability.
• Excellent communication and guest service skills.
• Ability to read, write, and understand English.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a positive attitude and support management policies.
• Follow department policies and guest service standards; maintain uniform.
• Handle funds securely and provide accurate guest service.
• Redeem coins/tokens, cash checks, and answer guest questions.
• Route and manage department paperwork efficiently.
• Move and protect company funds; lift up to 35 lb and push 500 lb cart.
• Communicate with other departments; uphold integrity and professionalism.
• Be prepared to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Obey Ameristar Casino Vicksburg rules and uniform standards.
• May perform Cage operations duties, including cage banks.
• Provide sales and redemption services for guests and ensure neat, safe work area.
• Observe safety rules and internal controls and STAR service standards.
• All other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Maintains a positive attitude at all times, supporting the policies of Senior Management of the Casino.
• Adhere to established department and property policies and procedures regarding guest service standards.
• This is a uniformed position, which requires that team member’s are in compliance with uniformed appearance standards while on duty.
• Assure the securing of company funds, provide accurate and courteous guest service.
• Redeem coins/tokens, cash checks, and supply information to guests.
• Maintain and assure the proper routing of the department’s paperwork.
• Responsible for the movement and protection of company funds. This includes repeated lifting up to 35 lb. and pushing/pulling 500 lb. cart.
• Maintain communication with all departments, Team Members and guests to ensure positive experiences. - Maintain a high level of personal integrity and moral conduct free of questionable association.
• Be prepared to work in adverse conditions, over-time, nights, weekends and holidays.
• Obey the rules policies and procedures of Ameristar Casino Vicksburg and the department.
• Maintain uniform in order to present a neat, clean and professional appearance.
• May perform duties in any functional area of the Cage operations department, including but not limited to Cage banks.
• Provide an outlet of sales and redemption of coin and chips for internal and external guests (ex., general cashier, main bank, fill bank and jackpot/fill window).
• Maintain a neat, safe and organized work Ameristar.
• Observe and follow all safety rules and regulations of Ameristar Casino Vicksburg.
• Implement and maintain a working knowledge of the Ameristar Casino Vicksburg, System of internal Controls and Star Service Standards as well as Federal Currency Transaction Reporting Laws as they pertain to casinos.
• All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Ability to read, communicate, understand and write English
• Ability to work with interruptions
• Must have ten-key (calculator) skills
• Must have good communication and guest service skills
• Data entry/computer skills are required - Must be mathematically inclined
• Money handling and organizational skills preferred.
• Must be able to stand for a minimum eight (8) hour shift.
• Locations on casino floor are noisy and smoky.
• Will also encounter intoxicated guests frequently.
• Provide representation of department in specific project and company meetings.
• High School diploma, some college classes or degree preferred.
• Previous casino Cage or cash handling experience.
