Essential Job Functions

1. Provide efficient and courteous service to customers at all times, including asking customers to check out. NEVER sign off the register with a customer waiting. Always wait until someone comes to relieve you.
2. Scan and ring customer orders according to company policy, including store productivity standards. Ensure items are credited to the correct department and all items are removed from the cart.
3. Receive and be accountable for all funds taken for each transaction.
4. Assist the courtesy clerk in bagging groceries.
5. Keep work station and surrounding area neat and clean.
6. Follow all state and local laws regarding beer and/or wine sales.
7. Follow all federal laws regarding WIC handling.
8. Follow coupon handling procedures.
9. Adhere to check cashing and tendering procedures.
10. Follow policies for Debit Card/Credit Card/Gift Card/EBT transactions.
11. Use assigned tills properly.
12. Take weekly produce tests.
13. Record and turn in all not-on-file items daily.
14. Follow procedures for obtaining change.
15. Use intercom properly.
16. Avoid conversations with other associates while checking out orders.
17. Understand and explain the ValuCard program.
18. Assist with light stocking duties (candy, cigarettes).
19. Sweep the front end.
20. Replace misplaced items to proper locations.
21. Maintain neatness of bathrooms.
22. Perform other duties as assigned.
