Job summary

Sanford Health is seeking an Admitting Clerk for the Emergency Room front desk in a 32-hour-per-week night shift role. The position offers a $1.50 shift differential and immediate benefits on hire, with opportunities for advancement within the system.

Responsibilities include greeting patients, verifying demographics, creating electronic files, collecting payments, and coordinating with billing and scheduling teams. Prior experience in healthcare front desk is preferred.

Join our dedicated Admitting team at the Emergency Room front desk! This position is 32 hours per week and would cover overnight shifts, 10:30pm to 7am, every other weekend is required and weekday shifts are set. This overnight positions would come with a shift differential of $1.50 above the starting wage offer. Benefits begin immediately, on hire date including any personally selected benefits as was as PTO accrual. Current staff are given priority for open positions, allowing opportunities to advance into more desirable schedules or a full time position in the future. Job Description

Educates patients and captures patient signatures on necessary paperwork. Establishes and assigns financial responsibility and/or assists with arrangements while adhering to appropriate policies and procedures. Collects co-payments, pre-payments, and/or payments on account balances. May also work through the registration work queue to address and resolve issues specific to registration, including work queue errors, denied insurance claims, and maintenance of the registration database. Operates multi-line telephones and depending on location, may serve as a switchboard operator calling codes and paging providers. Additional duties may include preparation and coordination of charts; organizing supporting provider documents; discussing pre-payment responsibilities; initiation of patient financial assistance; prior authorization; track patient visits; collaborating with patient financial services and health information management on patient accounts; work on weekly and monthly reports; compiling, distributing, administering and scoring of assessments; coordination of Telemed appointments; provider and schedule maintenance; charge entry/billing and charge verification; reminder calls for appointments; hospital admission; make copies, send faxes, and order supplies.

Displays professionalism and promotes an atmosphere of mutual respect and cooperation. Must be able to work as part of a team and also work independently. Frequently takes direction from nursing team, stepping in to aid with Code Blue situations. Must always maintain confidentiality of sensitive information. Requires excellent customer service and the ability to empathize with patients and their situations. Working knowledge of medical terminology and use of professional written communication when making notes. Performs other duties as assigned.
