Job summary

Times Supermarkets Honokowai Store is seeking a Part-Time Cashier to provide friendly customer service and operate the cash register for item purchases. You will ring up items, weigh produce, and assist customers at the front end with bagging and checkout efficiency.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, eligibility to work in the United States, and the ability to stand for extended periods in a fast-paced retail environment. Amber Nakasone handles inquiries at the store.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and assist during transactions.
• Assist customers while ringing up or weighing items.
• Bag groceries efficiently and keep the area organized.
• Verify and balance the cash register at shift start and end.
• Process payments (cash, credit, debit, EBT, checks) and coupons.
• Check IDs for tobacco/liquor purchases and card/check payments.
• Maintain price integrity and register procedures.
• Refill bagging area and keep workstation clean.
• Perform duties of a courtesy clerk as needed.
• Other duties as assigned by the Front End Manager.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Provides customer service to our customers, while operating cash register to ring up various items in exchange for currency.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Greets customers when within ten feet and four seconds of contact, by name if possible, during transactions
• Assists customers while ringing up/weighing items for purchase
• Bags like groceries together, while using the least number of bags
• Checks for bottom of the basket
• Verify/balance register till at the beginning and end of shift
• Accept/Verify/Process payment from customer in the form of cash, credit, debit, ebt, and check
• Verify/Process WIC checks, purchase orders, merchandise certificates and coupons
• Check identification for tobacco and liquor purchases, as well as payment by credit card and check by following established company procedures
• Register accuracy, knows/ carries out proper register procedures to meet company performance standards, price integrity
• Refills bag wells in front end, keep workstation clean and organized by dusting, wiping, and sweeping area.
• Performs duties of a courtesy clerk
• Performs other related duties as needed as assigned by manager

OTHER DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

EXPERIENCE / EDUCATION

• High school / Secondary school diploma or GED
• Must be 18 years of age to ring register per company policy

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Basic mathematical knowledge and cash handling experience preferred
• Working knowledge of produce codes required, while able to differentiate between different produce products

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Air condition while in store, subject to outside conditions of heat, rain, and wind while retrieving wagons/helping customers to their car, and chill temperatures if products need to be retrieved from chill
