C-A-L Ranch Stores was founded in 1959 in Idaho Falls, ID, by Clinton, Allen, and L. Wayne Murphy. The family used their initials “C-A-L” to create their brand. Our first store, located in Idaho Falls, ID, was called C-A-L Ranch & Farm Supply. The store had less than 3,000 square feet, primarily selling tillage tools and hardware. Over 60+ years, C-A-L Ranch Stores has grown from a single store to a regional retailer with multiple locations in Idaho, Utah, Nevada, and Arizona. While no longer owned by the Murphys, it remains privately held, with current owners continuing the company's mission and values.

What You’ll Do:

The cashier role is vital as you are often the first and possibly only contact a customer has with our store. It is essential to represent C-A-L Ranch Stores with professionalism and courtesy, providing legendary customer service with a friendly and positive attitude.

Responsibilities:

1. Provide outstanding customer service by greeting guests, maintaining high standards, and demonstrating product knowledge.
2. Stay informed about products, promotions, and advertisements.
3. Assist with floor moves, merchandising, display maintenance, and store cleanliness.
4. Help process and replenish merchandise, including receiving and monitoring stock.
5. Follow all company policies, including signing, pricing, and loss prevention.
6. Complete sales transactions accurately at POS registers and maintain cash/media accountability.
7. Communicate customer requests to management.
8. Maintain a balanced cash drawer.
9. Use the inventory system for price checks and item look-ups.
10. Handle cash, checks, credit/debit cards, and issue receipts.
11. Verify totals and cash on hand, process refunds and credit memorandums per store policies.
12. Operate the cash register efficiently, including scanning items and displaying transaction details.
13. Complete safety training by watching store safety videos and following safety procedures.
14. Answer incoming calls promptly and direct them appropriately.
15. Assist in training new employees and other team members.

Qualifications:

1. Ability to lift and move items up to 25 pounds regularly; occasional assistance required for over 25 pounds, using tools like a hand truck or help from another employee.
2. Must be physically present at the store; regular and predictable attendance is required. Work schedules are planned weekly.
3. Effective communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
4. Ability to push, pull, and lift materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
