C-A-L Ranch Stores was founded in 1959 in Idaho Falls, ID, by Clinton, Allen, and L. Wayne Murphy. The family used their initials “C-A-L” to create their brand. Our first store, located in Idaho Falls, ID, was called C-A-L Ranch & Farm Supply. The store had less than 3,000 square feet and primarily sold tillage tools and hardware. Over 60+ years, C-A-L Ranch Stores has grown from a single store to a regional retailer with multiple locations in Idaho, Utah, Nevada, and Arizona. Although no longer owned by the Murphys, it remains privately held, with current owners committed to our core mission and values.

What You’ll Do:

The cashier role is vital to our organization. As the face of C-A-L Ranch Stores, you will be the primary contact for customers. It is essential that you demonstrate professionalism, courtesy, and legendary customer service skills, along with a friendly and positive attitude.

Responsibilities:

1. Provide exceptional customer service by greeting guests, maintaining high standards, and demonstrating product knowledge.
2. Stay informed about product details, promotions, and advertisements.
3. Assist with floor moves, merchandising, display upkeep, and store cleanliness.
4. Help process and replenish merchandise, including receiving and monitoring stock.
5. Follow all company policies, including signing, pricing, and loss prevention procedures.
6. Accurately complete sales transactions and manage cash/media at POS registers.
7. Communicate customer requests to management.
8. Maintain a balanced cash drawer.
9. Use inventory systems for price checks and item look-ups.
10. Handle cash, checks, credit/debit cards, and issue receipts.
11. Verify totals on register tapes against cash on hand.
12. Process refunds and credit memorandums per store policies.
13. Operate the cash register efficiently, including scanning items and displaying totals.
14. Complete safety training by watching store safety videos.
15. Answer incoming calls promptly and direct them appropriately.
16. Assist in training new staff and other team members.

Qualifications:

1. Ability to lift and move items up to 25 pounds regularly; occasionally over 25 pounds with assistance.
2. Physical presence at the store is required; regular attendance is essential.
3. Effective communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
4. Ability to push, pull, and lift materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
