C-A-L Ranch Stores was founded in 1959 in Idaho Falls, ID, by Clinton, Allen, and L. Wayne Murphy. The family used their initials “C-A-L” to create their brand. Our first store, located in Idaho Falls, ID was called C-A-L Ranch & Farm Supply. The store had less than 3,000 square feet and primarily sold tillage tools and hardware. After 60+ years, C-A-L Ranch Stores has grown from a single store to a regional retailer with multiple locations in Idaho, Utah, Nevada, and Arizona. Although no longer owned by the Murphys, it remains privately held, with current owners maintaining the same mission and values.

What You’ll Do:

The cashier role is vital; you are the face of our company. You may be the only contact a customer has, so representing C-A-L Ranch Stores with professionalism and courtesy is essential. Exceptional customer service skills and a friendly attitude are a must.

Responsibilities:

1. Provide legendary customer service by greeting and acknowledging every guest, maintaining high standards, and demonstrating product knowledge.
2. Stay informed about products, promotions, and advertisements.
3. Assist with floor moves, merchandising, display maintenance, and store cleanliness.
4. Help process and replenish merchandise, including receiving and monitoring stock.
5. Follow all company policies on signing, pricing, and loss prevention.
6. Complete sales accurately and efficiently, managing cash and media at POS registers.
7. Communicate guest requests to management.
8. Maintain a balanced cash drawer.
9. Use the inventory system for price checks and item look-ups.
10. Handle transactions such as making change, processing checks, credit/debit cards, and issuing receipts.
11. Verify totals on cash register tapes against cash on hand.
12. Process refunds and credit memorandums following store policies.
13. Operate the cash register, scanning items and displaying purchase details.
14. Complete safety training by watching all required safety videos and adhering to safety procedures.
15. Answer incoming calls promptly and route them appropriately.
16. Assist in training new employees and other associates.

Qualifications:

1. Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds regularly; occasionally over 25 pounds with assistance, and up to 50 pounds with help from a second person or hand truck.
2. Must be physically present at the store; regular attendance is required with weekly work schedules.
3. Effective communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
