C-A-L Ranch Stores was founded in 1959 in Idaho Falls, ID, by Clinton, Allen, and L. Wayne Murphy. The family used their initials “C-A-L” to create their brand. Our first store, located in Idaho Falls, ID, was called C-A-L Ranch & Farm Supply. The store had less than 3,000 square feet and primarily sold tillage tools and hardware. After 60+ years of successful retail business, C-A-L Ranch Stores has grown from a single store to a regional retailer with multiple stores in Idaho, Utah, Nevada, and Arizona. Although it is no longer owned by the Murphys, it remains privately held, with the current owners maintaining the company's original mission and values.

What You’ll Do

The cashier role is vital as you are often the first and only point of contact for customers. It is essential that cashiers exemplify professionalism and courtesy, providing legendary customer service with a friendly and positive attitude.

Responsibilities

1. Provide exceptional customer service, greeting and acknowledging every guest, maintaining high standards, and demonstrating product knowledge.
2. Stay informed about product information, promotions, and advertisements.
3. Assist with floor moves, merchandising, display maintenance, and store cleanliness.
4. Replenish merchandise, assist with receiving, and monitor floor stock.
5. Follow all company policies, including signing, pricing, and loss prevention procedures.
6. Process sales transactions accurately, maintaining cash and media accountability.
7. Communicate customer requests to management.
8. Maintain a balanced cash drawer and operate the POS system efficiently.
9. Handle cash, checks, credit/debit cards, and issue receipts.
10. Record totals, verify cash on hand, and process refunds or credits according to store policies.
11. Operate the cash register, scanning items and displaying purchase details.
12. Complete safety training by watching C-A-L Ranch Stores safety videos and adhere to safety protocols.
13. Answer incoming calls promptly and direct them appropriately.
14. Assist in training new employees and support team members as needed.

Qualifications

1. Ability to lift and move items weighing up to 25 pounds regularly, and over 25 pounds with assistance.
2. Must be physically present at the store with regular attendance; work schedules are assigned weekly.
3. Effective communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
4. Ability to push, pull, and lift materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
