JOB SUMMARY:

To operate a cash register and check-stand efficiently and courteously in accordance with all front-end procedures and company policies. Cashiers are expected to ensure customer satisfaction by providing prompt and courteous service.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Scan grocery orders accurately and efficiently.
2. Identify departments and modifiers that do not scan correctly.
3. Utilize scan and bag techniques for maximum efficiency, and bag according to customer requests.
4. Count cash drawer before shift begins, and keep it secure at all times.
5. Handle payment media accurately, complying with company cash control policies.
6. Follow void procedures correctly.
7. Identify produce items and input their lookup code numbers accurately.
8. Enforce security policies such as shoplifting prevention, associate purchase policy, bottom of basket (BOB), and the Grapevine.
9. Understand store supply procedures.
10. Be knowledgeable about weekly ad and Hot Sheet items.
11. Provide high standards of customer service by greeting and thanking customers appropriately.
12. Adhere to all company policies outlined in the Employee Handbook.

SUPPLEMENTAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Assist with general housekeeping around the front end area.
2. Help stock shelves or face the store when necessary.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

1. Dexterity to scan and key groceries.
2. Strong communication skills for excellent customer service.
3. Strong mathematical skills for register operation.
4. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds up to 40% of the time.
5. Ability to stand upright for most of the scheduled work shift.
