FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

JOB SUMMARY:

To operate a cash register and check-stand efficiently and courteously in a manner that conforms with all front-end procedures and company policies. Cashiers are also expected to ensure customer satisfaction by providing prompt and courteous service.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Scan grocery orders accurately and efficiently.
2. Identify departments and modifiers that do not scan correctly.
3. Use scan and bag techniques for maximum efficiency, and bag according to customer requests.
4. Count cash drawer before shift begins and keep it secure at all times.
5. Handle payment media accurately and comply with company cash control policies.
6. Follow void procedures correctly.
7. Identify produce items and input their lookup code numbers accurately.
8. Enforce security policies such as shoplifting prevention, associate purchase policy, BOB, and the Grapevine.
9. Understand proper store supply procedures.
10. Be aware of weekly ad and Hot Sheet items.
11. Provide high standards of customer service by greeting and thanking customers properly.
12. Follow all company policies as stated in the Employee Handbook.

SUPPLEMENTAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Assist with general housekeeping around the front end area.
2. Help stock shelves or face the store when necessary.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

1. Dexterity in hands for scanning and keying groceries.
2. Strong communication skills for excellent customer service.
3. Strong mathematical skills for operating registers.
4. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds up to 40% of the time.
5. Ability to stand upright for most of the scheduled shift.
