Job summary

Bartlett's Farm on Nantucket is seeking a friendly Retail Cashier for temporary PT/FT shifts. You will greet customers, handle sales, and help maintain the clean, organized store environment.

You should have prior cashier or customer service experience, be comfortable with POS systems, stand for long periods, and deliver accurate, courteous service to every visitor.

Qualifications

• Previous cashier and/or customer service experience is preferred.
• Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal, mathematical, and organizational skills.
• Familiarity with point of sale systems is preferred.
• Must possess a strong work ethic.
• Ability to stand for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Provides courteous and attentive service to customers by answering questions, processing sales, and directing them to products.
• Processes customer purchases efficiently and accurately across cash, check, credit cards, gift certificates and other tender; maintains drawer accuracy.
• Keeps counter areas clean and orderly and assists in maintaining retail facilities.
• Bagging groceries, cart retrieval, neat work spaces, and assisting customers to their cars when needed.
• Communicates with the retail manager or supervisor when products need replenishing.
• Assists stockers in maintaining and stocking displays; ensures products are labeled, clean, and fully stocked.

Salary Range: $22.00 To $25.00 Hourly

Under the supervision of the Customer Service Manager and any Cashier Supervisors, the Cashier is an hourly position responsible for servicing customers in the Farm retail stands in conformance with established Farm policies, strategies, and procedures.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provides courteous and attentive service to customers by answering questions, processing sales, and directing them to products.Keeps familiar with retail layout and stays knowledgeable about retail items. Ensures the highest level of service, environment, and quality product is provided. Builds customer relationships and ensures a positive experience for every visitor in the store.
• Processes customer purchases efficiently and accurately. Handles all types of regular point of sale (POS) transactions including cash, check, credit cards, gift certificates and mixed tender. Maintains drawer accuracy.
• Responsible for keeping counter areas clean and orderly. Assists in keeping the retail facilities clean and organized.
• Other responsibilities including, but not limited to bagging groceries, cart retrieval, maintaining neat and orderly work spaces and sometimes assisting customers to their cars with purchases.
• Communicates, as necessary, to retail manager or supervisor when product needs replenishing.
• Assists retail stockers in maintaining and stocking product displays. Ensures products are clean, organized, properly labeled, and fully stocked. Periodically examines products to remove old or damaged items.
