Job summary

Cottage Health, based in California, is hiring for a Cashier I in the Single Billing Office. The role posts and reconciles insurance correspondence, reports discrepancies, and supports cash and payment processing to maximize cash collections.

Experience with medical office cash handling and basic accounting is valued. Preferred EPIC system experience and at least 2 years in related roles help ensure accuracy in insurance eligibility verification and refund processing.

Qualifications

• Minimum: Basic MS Word and Excel skills.
• 35 wpm keyboarding speed and 6,000+ keystrokes per hour.
• Basic math skills.
• EPIC system experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Post and reconcile cash, checks, and other payments for insurance and patients.
• Report discrepancies with correspondence for resolution.
• Re-categorize denial reasons in health logic as needed.
• Verify insurance eligibility and process refund requests as applicable.

Job description

Cottage Health seeks a Cashier I for their Single Billing Office department responsible for daily posting and reconciliation of insurance correspondence through on-base, mail, and emails. Report all discrepancies with correspondence for resolution. Re-categorization of denial reasons in health logic. Some posting of cash, checks and other payments to maximize cash collections. Account resolution includes insurance eligibility verification and submissions of refund requests (checks and credit cards) for both insurance and patient.

Education:

Technical Requirements:

• Minimum: Basic MS Word and Excel skills. 35 wpm keyboarding/typing speed. 6,000+ sph 10-key. Basic math skills.
• Preferred: EPIC system experience

Years of Related Work Experience:

• Minimum: 2 years’ experience with cash handling and cash drawer end of day balancing or retail/data entry.
• Preferred: 6 months to a year in medical office setting.

*Pay for non-physician positions is determined based on related years of experience and internal equity. Eligible employees may also receive additional forms of compensation, including shift differentials, on-call pay, incentive pay, and bonus opportunities, where applicable. Manager and above positions may participate in Cottage Health's annual management incentive program. Physician compensation is determined based upon specialty and may include bonus potential.
