Position Summary

The Cashier / Front of House Associate is responsible for providing friendly, efficient, and professional service to customers while accurately processing payments and ensuring that the front of the restaurant remains clean, stocked, organized, and inviting.

In addition to operating the cash register and collecting customer payments, this position assists with distributing completed orders and supports the overall front-of-house operation. The Cashier / Front of House Associate should be attentive to customer needs and take initiative to keep the dining and service areas clean, stocked, and ready for customers throughout the shift.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Customer Service & Cashier Responsibilities
  • Greet customers in a friendly and professional manner.

  • Take customer orders accurately and efficiently.

  • Operate the restaurant's point-of-sale (POS) system.

  • Collect and process cash, credit/debit cards, and other approved forms of payment.

  • Provide customers with accurate change and receipts.

  • Maintain accurate cash handling procedures and report any discrepancies to management.

  • Answer customer questions and provide information about menu items, pricing, and available options.

  • Communicate customer requests and special instructions clearly to the kitchen team.

  • Maintain a positive and welcoming attitude, even during busy service periods.

  • Address basic customer concerns professionally and notify management when additional assistance is needed.

Order Distribution & Guest Support
  • Assist with distributing completed customer orders when needed.

  • Verify orders for accuracy and ensure customers receive the appropriate items.

  • Package orders neatly and ensure necessary utensils, napkins, condiments, sauces, and other items are included.

  • Assist customers with questions or requests related to their orders.

  • Work closely with kitchen staff to maintain an efficient flow of orders from the kitchen to the customer.

Front-of-House Appearance & Cleanliness
  • Maintain clean, organized, and attractive cashier and service counters throughout the shift.

  • Regularly wipe and sanitize counters, service surfaces, and other customer-facing areas.

  • Keep dining areas clean and presentable by clearing tables, removing trash, and addressing spills or messes as needed.

  • Clean and maintain exterior countertops and other customer-facing surfaces.

  • Monitor the overall appearance of the front-of-house and take initiative to address cleaning needs.

  • Ensure trash receptacles are emptied and replaced as needed.

  • Maintain a clean and welcoming environment both inside and immediately around the restaurant's customer-facing areas.

Beverage & Product Stocking
  • Prepare and maintain beverages according to restaurant standards.

  • Keep beverage stations clean, organized, and fully stocked.

  • Replenish drink supplies, cups, lids, straws, ice, and other beverage-related items as needed.

  • Restock bottled and canned beverages in coolers throughout the shift.

  • Monitor cooler and beverage inventory and communicate low-stock items to management.

  • Maintain clean and organized beverage coolers and customer-accessible areas.

  • Assist with stocking other front-of-house supplies as needed.

Food Safety & Sanitation
  • Follow all restaurant food-safety, sanitation, and personal-hygiene requirements.

  • Properly handle food, beverages, utensils, and customer-facing supplies.

  • Follow established procedures for cleaning and sanitizing work areas.

  • Report spills, equipment issues, safety hazards, or sanitation concerns to management promptly.

  • Maintain proper handwashing and food-handling practices at all times.

Teamwork & General Responsibilities
  • Work cooperatively with kitchen staff, management, and other front-of-house employees.

  • Assist team members during periods of high customer volume.

  • Maintain awareness of what needs to be done rather than waiting to be assigned every task.

  • Assist with opening and closing duties as assigned.

  • Complete assigned cleaning, stocking, and side-work responsibilities throughout the shift.

  • Follow restaurant policies, procedures, and service standards.

  • Perform other reasonable duties as assigned by management.

Work Environment

This position works primarily in the front-of-house area of a quick-service restaurant and regularly interacts with customers and other employees. The employee may work around food, beverages, cleaning chemicals, kitchen heat, noise, and high customer volume.

The Cashier / Front of House Associate is expected to maintain a clean, professional, and welcoming environment while providing efficient and courteous customer service.
