Qualifications

• Follow detailed written or verbal instructions and work through tasks with a few concrete variables.
• Perform arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages.
• Understand and follow verbal or demonstrated directions and communicate supply needs orally or in writing.
• Work effectively as part of a team to deliver a great customer experience.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers with a smile and learn their names to make every visit a great one.
• Operate the cash register and process all payment types including cash, checks, credit cards, coupons, and vouchers.
• Count back change, issue receipts, and provide refunds or credits when needed.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal guidelines on WIC, food stamps, tobacco, liquor, and lottery sales.
• Bag merchandise, support drive-up and carry-out services, and assist courtesy personnel.
• Maintain knowledge of item lookup numbers, department numbers, and weekly ad changes.
• Stock, face, rotate merchandise; keep shelves clean and organized.
• Keep the register area tidy, monitor supplies, and report cash levels.
• Verify register balances at shift start/end and communicate clearly by intercom or phone.
• Stay aware of surroundings to support store safety and security.
• Assist management with displays and promotions and participate in special projects as assigned.
• Adhere to personal hygiene, dress standards, and Hy-Vee policies.
• Report to work as scheduled and arrive on time.
