Food Clerk-Cashier

Part Time – Hourly

Primary Responsibilities

• Greet, assist, and politely ring out customers
• Process purchases quickly and accurately using electronic cash registers, scanners, and scales
• Keep the register area clean and organized
• Prevent loss through careful handling, accurate pricing, and proper use of store procedures for coupons, vouchers, checks, and cards
• Ensure safety for all by following store safety rules and reporting hazards
• Bag customer purchases efficiently and correctly
• Understand operation and safety of cash register, scanner, scale, and intercom system
• Perform additional tasks as assigned by supervisors and managers to ensure excellent service

Supervision

Cashiers (food clerks) report directly to the Front-End Manager or Store Manager.

Qualifications

• Exceptional customer service skills
• Basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide)
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Experience in related field preferred

Physical Tasks

• Stand for at least 4 hours
• Lifting up to 40 lbs from 6 to 48 inches
• Move items up to 15 feet
• Retrieve items from shelves at heights up to 84 inches
• Bend and twist during cleaning and stocking

Work Environment

Indoor with transitions between heat, cold, humidity, and dust during store openings and closings.
