Primary Responsibilities

1. Greet, assist, and ring out all customers politely.
2. Process customer purchases quickly and accurately using electronic cash registers, scanners, and scales.
3. Maintain cleanliness of the register area, including sweeping floors and cleaning check lanes, registers, and scales.
4. Prevent loss of money and merchandise through careful handling, accurate pricing, and proper use of store procedures for coupons, vouchers, checks, credit, and debit cards.
5. Ensure safety of self, customers, and co-workers by following store safety rules and reporting hazards.
6. Bag customer purchases efficiently and correctly.
7. Understand operation, safety, and restraints of electronic cash registers, scanners, scales, and intercom systems.
8. Perform miscellaneous tasks as assigned by supervisors and managers to ensure customer service and product availability.

Qualifications

• Excellent customer service skills.
• Basic mathematics skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Prior experience in related field preferred.

Physical and Work Environment Requirements

• Standing capability for at least 4 hours.
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. from 6 inches to 48 inches height.
• Ability to move up to 40 lbs. up to 15 feet.
• Ability to retrieve items from floor, shelves, and high places (up to 84 inches).
• Ability to bend and twist during cleaning and merchandise handling.
• Work indoors with transitions of heat, cold, humidity, and dust.
