Food Clerk-Cashier

Part Time – Hourly

Primary Responsibilities

1. Greet, assist, and politely ring out all customers.
2. Process customer purchases quickly and accurately using electronic cash registers, scanners, and scales.
3. Keep the register area clean by sweeping floors and cleaning check lanes, registers, and scales.
4. Prevent loss by careful handling of products, accurate pricing, and proper use of store procedures for coupons, WIC, vouchers, checks, credit, and debit cards.
5. Ensure safety for all by understanding store safety rules and reporting hazards immediately.
6. Bag customer purchases efficiently and correctly.
7. Understand operation, safety, and restraints of cash register, scanner, scale, and intercom system.
8. Perform miscellaneous tasks assigned by supervisors, including substituting for absent workers and other duties to ensure excellent service.

Supervision

Cashiers report directly to the Front-End Manager or Store Manager.

Qualifications

1. Exceptional customer service skills.
2. Basic mathematics skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
3. High School Diploma or equivalent.
4. Prior experience in related fields preferred.

Specific Tasks

1. Stand for at least 4 hours.
2. Lift up to 40 lbs from 6 to 48 inches.
3. Move up to 40 lbs up to 15 feet.
4. Pick up items from various heights and positions.
5. Bend and twist for cleaning and merchandise handling.

Work Environment

Indoor setting with transitions from heat, cold, humidity, and dust due to store entrance/exit doors.
