Job Overview

Position Objective: To assist customers in their shopping experience by processing sales transactions efficiently, friendly, and courteously.

Reporting Structure: Reports to Office Manager.

Status: Non-exempt position.

Knowledge Requirements

• A valid liquor license must be obtained prior to first day (if applicable).
• Completion of ongoing training as per Cosentino’s Learning Plan.

Preferred Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).

Skills and Responsibilities

• Accurately process payments via cash, check, gift cards, credit/debit cards, coupons, or other methods.
• Handle transactions involving government assistance programs accurately.
• Issue receipts and change correctly.
• Operate cash registers, scanners, check verification, and intercom systems.
• Use proper bagging techniques to minimize damage and reduce shrink.
• Maintain a clean and professional front-end appearance.
• Resolve customer complaints professionally and involve management when necessary.
• Adhere to Customer Service Standards and health, sanitation, safety regulations.
• Know store items, procedures, and policies to assist customers courteously.
• Operate and maintain equipment safely.
• Meet productivity standards and demonstrate strong communication skills.
• Comply with all governmental regulations regarding weights, measures, alcohol, tobacco, and food assistance programs.

Additional Duties

• Assist in training new cashiers if directed.
• Promote sales through suggestive selling.
• Re-stock returned items.
• Support other tasks and departments as needed.

Physical Requirements

• Reaching, twisting, lifting up to 10 lbs., pushing carts up to 25 lbs., standing/walking for long periods, occasionally lifting up to 30 lbs., bending, and squatting.
• Climbing ladders up to 5 ft (non-essential).
