Job description

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

1. Cashier/Checker is responsible for being visible and actively greeting, engaging, and assisting customers.
2. Cashiers process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently at the check lane.
3. Checkers understand the Point of Sale (POS) system and handle various tenders such as Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, Offline SNAP EBT, WIC, Rain checks, loyalty offers, coupons, and checkout procedures according to company policy.
4. Checkers adhere to the company's limits on cash shortages and overages, working honestly to control loss.
5. Cashiers follow guidelines on restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
6. Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
7. Follow policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
8. Stay current with ads and promotions.
9. Adhere to food safety regulations and guidelines.
10. Reinforce safety programs by complying with procedures and reporting unsafe conditions or incidents.
11. Inspect equipment regularly and notify management of repairs needed.
12. Create a welcoming environment for customers by answering questions about products.
13. Comply with all applicable laws and company guidelines.
14. Work cooperatively in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
15. Manage conflicts in a reasonable and cooperative manner.
16. Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
17. Follow directions and seek assistance to resolve issues.
18. Support and assist minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
19. Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Qualifications

Minimum Position Qualifications:

• Basic math skills (counting, addition, subtraction)

Desired Previous Job Experience:

• Experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk
