Responsibilities
- Greet, engage, and assist customers actively and visibly.
- Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently at the check lane.
- Understand and operate the Point of Sale (POS) system, handling various tenders such as Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, Rain checks, loyalty offers, coupons, and checkout procedures per company policy.
- Adhere to company limits on cash shortages and overages, working honestly to control loss.
- Follow guidelines on restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
- Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
- Follow policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
- Stay updated on current and upcoming promotions and ads.
- Comply with food safety regulations and guidelines.
- Support safety programs, identify unsafe conditions, and notify management.
- Inspect equipment and report repairs needed.
- Create a welcoming environment, answering questions about products throughout the store.
- Follow all relevant laws and company policies.
- Work effectively in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
- Manage conflicts cooperatively and non-confrontationally.
- Maintain honesty and integrity with customer and business information.
- Follow directions and seek assistance when needed to resolve issues.
- Assist customers such as minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
- Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodations.
Qualifications
- Customer service experience.
- Effective communication skills.
- Basic math skills (counting, addition, subtraction).
Desired Previous Job Experience
- Customer service experience.
- Experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk.
