Responsibilities
- Be visible, greet, engage, and assist customers actively.
- Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently.
- Understand the Point of Sale (POS) system and handle various tenders such as Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, Rain checks, loyalty offers, coupons, and checkout procedures per company policy.
- Adhere to the company's cash shortage/overage limits and work honestly to control loss.
- Follow guidelines on restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
- Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
- Follow policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
- Stay current with advertisements and promotions.
- Adhere to food safety regulations and guidelines.
- Follow safety procedures, identify unsafe conditions, and notify management.
- Inspect equipment regularly and report repairs needed.
- Create a welcoming environment by assisting customers and answering questions about products.
- Comply with all laws and company guidelines.
- Work cooperatively in a high-paced and stressful environment.
- Manage conflicts calmly and cooperatively.
- Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
- Follow directions and seek help when needed to resolve issues.
- Support customers, including minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
- Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodations.
Qualifications
- Customer service experience
- Effective communication skills
- Basic math skills (counting, addition, subtraction)
