Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

• Greet, engage, and assist customers actively and visibly.
• Process transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently at the check lane.
• Understand and operate the Point of Sale (POS) system, handling various tenders including Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, Rain checks, loyalty offers, coupons, and checkout procedures per company policy.
• Adhere to company limits on cash shortages or overages and work to control loss honestly and effectively.
• Follow guidelines on restricted sale items such as Alcohol, Tobacco, and DVDs.
• Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
• Follow policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
• Stay updated on current, upcoming, seasonal, and promotional advertisements.
• Comply with all food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Reinforce safety programs, follow safety procedures, and report unsafe conditions or incidents.
• Inspect equipment regularly and report repairs needed.
• Create a welcoming environment by assisting customers with product questions across the store.
• Follow all applicable laws and company policies.
• Work effectively in a fast-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
• Manage conflicts professionally and cooperatively.
• Maintain honesty and integrity with customer and business information.
• Follow directions and seek help when needed to resolve issues.
• Support and assist minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
• Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodations.

Qualifications

Minimum Position Qualifications:

• Customer service experience
• Effective communication skills
• Basic math skills (counting, addition, subtraction)

Desired Previous Job Experience:

• Customer service experience
• Experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk
