Job summary

Columbia Dining Services at Columbia University is seeking a Cashier to join our team. The role handles calculation, receipt and custody of cash and charge purchases under supervision.

You will set up registers, process transactions, and help maintain accurate cash handling while delivering friendly service in a fast-paced campus environment. This 35-hour per week position supports the Union Local 2110, with schedule patterns that include evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• Some experience/minimum of 6 months related experience required.
• Ability to calculate and operate cash register.

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. Position Summary

Columbia Dining Services is a dynamic, progressive department in an exciting, fun environment with a customer-focused culture. We have an immediate opening for a Cashier. The cashier performs routine work under immediate supervision that involves calculation, receipt and custody of cash and charge purchases.

Responsibilities

• Set up cash register with sufficient change obtained from supervisor.
• Calculate the cost of items purchased by customer and enter on register (Cash or charge).
• Collect cash and make change. Collect cards for charge customers and scan on register.
• At the end of the shift, clear register and record the cash received and hand over cash to supervisor with bank.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management personnel.
