Responsibilities include:

  • Processing customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently at check lanes.
  • Understanding and operating the Point of Sale (POS) system, handling various tenders such as Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, Offline SNAP EBT, WIC, Rain checks, complex loyalty offers, coupons, and checkout procedures according to company policy.
  • Adhering to company's cash shortage and overage limits and working honestly to control loss.
  • Following guidelines on restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
  • Reporting pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
  • Following policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
  • Staying current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
  • Adhering to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Reinforcing safety programs, complying with safety procedures, and reporting unsafe conditions or accidents.
  • Creating a welcoming environment for customers and assisting with product questions.
  • Following all applicable laws and company policies.
  • Working cooperatively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
  • Managing conflicts in a reasonable, nonconfrontational manner.
  • Acting with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
  • Following directions and seeking assistance when needed to resolve issues.
  • Providing support to minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
  • Performing essential functions of the role with or without reasonable accommodation.
