Job summary

The Salvation Army is seeking a cashie r at the ARC – Adult Rehabilitation Center in Florida. You will assist customers with purchases, operate and balance a cash register, and help manage donations while maintaining a clean and welcoming sales floor.

Qualifications include a High School diploma or GED and experience in retail or similar roles. Strong English communication and math skills are essential, with a commitment to excellent customer service and teamwork in a faith-based nonprofit

Job Summary

Assists store customers in selecting and purchasing items. Operate and maintain a cash register; collect monies, count change, and prepare receipts; balance the cash register drawer and print routine register printouts; prepare and deliver bank deposits. Respond to customers questions and assist customers who are donating items. Maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of merchandise and displays. Maintain the neatness and security of the cash register area; secure merchandise and the cash register. Clean display racks and shelves; sweep and mop floors; clean windows, mirrors, and help maintain overall cleanliness of store. Answer the store telephone in a tactful and courteous manner.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of effective customer service techniques. Knowledge of the principles and practices of basic mathematics. Ability to read, write, and effectively communicate in the English language.

Education and Experience

High School diploma or G.E.D. preferred and experience working in a retail store preferred or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to operate a cash register. Ability to accurately and timely perform routine mathematical computations and count change. Ability to operate and answer the telephone.

Generally limited physical effort required associated with sitting, walking, standing, lifting, bending, reaching, twisting, pushing, pulling, 75% to 100% of work time. May include carrying, pushing, pulling or moving objects (typically less than 50 lbs.) 25-50% of work time.
