Job Summary

Cashiers provide excellent customer service at the Point of Sale (POS), ensuring fast, friendly, and accurate transactions while maintaining control of cash and safeguarding company assets. They adhere to procedural guidelines and embody Pete’s Four Pillars of Value: Aesthetic, Quality, and Customer Service.

Essential Responsibilities

1. Know all produce and bakery codes, weekly sale items, coupon policies, and store procedures.
2. Issue receipts, refunds, credits, rain checks, or change to customers.
3. Receive payments via cash, check, credit cards, gift cards, or automatic debits.
4. Operate the cash register, scan items, enter PLU or UPC manually, and display purchase details.
5. Keep checkout areas clean and organized.
6. Meet or exceed service standards.
7. Assist with stocking, customer service, cleaning, and other store activities as needed.
8. Support baggers and assist with various POS transactions, including WIC, coupons, and EBT.
9. Maintain accurate cash drawer balances.
10. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or G.E.D. with 0-3 years retail experience.
• Valid Food Handler’s Certificate.
• Strong cash handling and math skills.

Skills and Abilities

• Exceptional customer service skills.
• Effective communication with customers and team members.
• Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to work independently or in teams.

Physical & Work Environment

• Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 lbs. regularly, and occasionally lift 75 lbs.
• Flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
• Reliable transportation required.
