Responsibilities include:

  • Processing customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently at checkout.
  • Understanding and operating the Point of Sale (POS) system, handling various tenders including cash, checks, credit/debit cards, SNAP EBT, WIC, rain checks, loyalty offers, coupons, and checkout procedures per company policy.
  • Adhering to company policies on cash shortages and overages, and working to control loss.
  • Following guidelines on restricted sale items such as alcohol, tobacco, and DVDs.
  • Reporting pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
  • Following policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
  • Staying current with advertisements and promotions.
  • Adhering to food safety regulations and safety procedures, identifying unsafe conditions, and reporting issues.
  • Performing preventive maintenance on equipment and reporting repairs needed.
  • Creating a welcoming environment for customers by answering questions about products.
  • Complying with all applicable laws and company guidelines.
  • Working cooperatively in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
  • Managing conflicts in a nonconfrontational manner.
  • Acting with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
  • Following directions and seeking help when needed to resolve issues.
  • Supporting and assisting minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
  • Performing essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
