Job summary

Hy-Vee in Marion, IA is seeking a Cash Accountability associate to help keep the store’s finances accurate and secure. You will count and balance registers, manage the safe, investigate discrepancies, and support cashiers to serve customers smoothly.

This hourly role requires meticulous attention to detail, reliability, and strong math skills. Night and weekend shifts are required, with on-site work and comprehensive training provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent experience required.
• 6 months to 1 year of similar or related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide prompt, friendly customer service and greet customers with a smile.
• Count registers after each cashier shift and balance cash and coin.
• Ensure cash is secured in the safe and manage safe-to-register cash transfers as needed.
• Sort checks, coupons, payouts, and charges into correct register files.
• Calculate cash over and short amounts and investigate discrepancies.
• Approve checks written for cash or payment of merchandise purchases.
• Reconcile money orders, Western Union, utilities, bank cards, and gift cards.
• Perform all register operations and stay knowledgeable of lookup and department numbers.
• Troubleshoot register issues and assist as cashier when needed.
• Train cashiers and maintain ongoing training.
• Operate POS and related computer equipment.
• Attend to special projects and maintain Hy-Vee policies and hygiene standards.
• Report to work as scheduled and on time.
