Job summary

Virginia Department of Corrections is seeking a Casework Counselor at Fluvanna Correctional Center for Women. The role focuses on comprehensive case management, ensuring classification paperwork is timely and accurate.

The incumbent will help inmates find suitable employment during incarceration and work on release planning, counseling, and staff training to promote pro-social outcomes and facility security.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in counseling, rehabilitation, or casework management.
• Experience facilitating rehabilitative programs.
• Experience preparing reports.
• Working knowledge of counseling principles, casework and treatment methods, behavior modification and inmate restoration rehabilitation.
• Demonstrated ability to counsel and interact with inmates to develop and follow through on treatment plans and to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive case management services and ensure classification paperwork is timely, accurate and complete.
• Assist in employing inmates during incarceration.
• Focus on adult inmate release planning and counseling including classification.
• Promote staff and inmate development through training and coaching.
