Job summary

Road to Responsibility in Marshfield, MA is seeking a dedicated Residential Specialist to support adults with developmental disabilities in a residential setting. You will perform case management duties, assist with daily living tasks, monitor finances, and help coordinate medical appointments.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and the internet.
  • Education related to psychology, social work, special education or related human service work preferred, and at least one year residential experience.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Successful completion and maintenance of all state and agency mandated trainings, including medication administration.
  • Must be willing to authorize a Criminal History Background Check (CORI) and release of information.

Responsibilities

  • Provide operational duties assigned by the Residential Manager, including medication ordering and petty cash handling.
  • Provide case management duties, attend meetings, write progress notes, and assist with annual reviews and assessments.
  • Attend weekly staff meetings, document minutes, and report on program-related paperwork.
  • Maintain valid driver’s license and provide transportation as required.
  • Administer medications as required following procedures.
  • Assist individuals with scheduling medical appointments and accompany them to appointments when needed.
  • Record data on instructional programs and support individuals in community living as outlined in support plans.

Job Location: Grace Ryder I - Marshfield, MA 02050 Position Type: Full-Time/Part-Time Salary Range: $21.00 - $21.00 Hourly Job Shift: Any RTR is offering a $2,500 Sign on Bonus for New Full Time Hires!

Act as part of a team responsible for the support, evaluation, and treatment of adults with developmental disabilities living in a residential setting. Perform all case management and operational duties assigned by the Residential Manager.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide operational duties assigned by the Residential Manager. This may include: ordering medication, assisting individuals with banking, monitoring program money and petty cash, grocery shopping, assisting with training new staff.
  • Provide case management duties as needed. This may include: attending and participating in meetings regarding individual(s), writing monthly progress notes, Individual Support Plans and assessments and objectives for annual reviews, assisting with the development of behavior plans or intervention strategies, collecting data, and completing all other paperwork as requested.
  • Attend weekly staff meetings, document meeting minutes, meet deadlines on all program related paperwork, and act as a team member in the development, implementation, and evaluation of programs and services.
  • Maintain valid Driver’s License and provide transportation as required by program.
  • Responsible for overseeing shift documentation provided by staff to ensure professional and accurate reporting.
  • Instruct, supervise and evaluate individuals in all areas of community living as outlined in each support plan. Record data on all instructional programs.
  • Implement all behavior plan interventions as assigned. These behavioral interventions may include physical restraint.
  • Assist individuals in scheduling and attending medical appointments and appropriately document. May include covering shifts off-site, any hospital stays (i.e., Boston).
  • Administer medications, as required, in accordance with medication administration procedures.
  • Assist and support individuals as needed with scheduling and attending social and leisure activities such as: family gatherings, religious celebrations, community events, and social gatherings.
  • Maintain residence and yard in clean, orderly condition as outlined by Program Manager. This may include: vacuuming, dusting, cleaning floors, bathrooms, laundry and keeping lawn clear of trash and debris. Also responsible for keeping steps, walks, paths and ramps clear.
  • Actively assist and support individuals as needed with personal care responsibilities. This may include: diet, exercise, meal preparation, bathing, shaving, dressing, toileting, etc.
  • Assist and support individuals as needed with physical direct care. This may include: physical or mechanical transfer of individuals from wheelchairs to a van, chair, or shower, etc.
  • Adhere to all established lines of communication, dress in a professional manner, and represent a positive and proactive attitude with co-workers, families, and referral agencies.
  • Responsible for writing reports, including daily shift reports, and other required documentation utilizing professional, and appropriate documentation skills.
  • Attend all required meetings, and adhere to all program routines and the schedules and needs of individuals under supervision.
  • Participate in on-the-job training and provide coaching to new co-workers as directed.
  • Adhere to agency safety standards.
  • Perform additional duties, or substitute for others as required, including other programs.
  • Adhere to all RTR policies and procedures.
  • Develop and provide all services in accordance with RTR’s philosophies including staff and Board beliefs.

  • Must be willing to authorize a Criminal History Background Check (CORI) and release of information concerning allegations from Disabled Persons Protection Commission (DPPC), Department of Developmental Services (DDS), and other agencies.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Must be fluent in English and have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to communicate effectively with individuals under supervision, employees of the organization, families, and members of the community.
