Job summary

Union County is seeking a dedicated Social Services Caseworker to provide casework and case management for abused and neglected children and their families. The role emphasizes evaluating needs, testifying when needed, and preparing court-related documentation.

You will perform home visits, coordinate services, and participate in on-call duties while maintaining ongoing professional education and excellent customer service.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Human-Services field or equivalent.
  • Combination of education and experience acceptable.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Regular and predictable attendance; professional demeanor.

Responsibilities

  • Provide casework and case management for abused, neglected, and dependent children and families.

  • Prepare and compile agency records and court documentation.
  • Complete APS assessments and required home visits.

JOB STANDARDS
  • Bachelor's degree in a Human-Services related field;
  • OR a combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the duties of the position.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.
  • Consistently and continually represents the agency in a positive and professional manner and provides appropriate internal and external customer service.
Essential Functions
  • Provides casework and case management services to abused, neglected and dependent children and their families.
  • Evaluates needs and provides supportive services to children and their families.
  • Recommends appropriate action and testifies on behalf of children.
  • Prepares and compiles documentation used in agency record-keeping and court hearings.
  • Completes assessments for Adult Protective Services (APS) as assigned.
  • Conducts face to face interviews with children, parents, alleged perpetrators and community members, and completes required visits to families' homes.
  • Completes referrals to law enforcement as necessary.
  • Completes all investigation activities within mandated timeframes.
  • Determines immediate safety of children and on an ongoing basis reassesses safety; provides parent education and training.
  • Works with co-workers and supervisor to obtain least restrictive placement settings for children needing out of home placements.
  • Arranges and supervises visitation between children and guardians.
  • Prepares children for adoption as needed.
  • Completes home studies and recruits and maintains foster parents.
  • Completes additional reports as required such as Case Plans, Semi Annual Reviews, Safety Assessments, Family Assessments, etc.
  • Participates in on-call duties as scheduled or assigned.
  • Attends staff meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Maintains continuing education requirements, if any.
