Job summary

The Salvation Army- Divisional Headquarters is seeking a Community Assistance Center Case Worker to provide direct support to individuals and families facing homelessness or financial hardship. You will assess needs, process applications, facilitate goal setting, and connect clients with housing, employment, and financial resources.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
• Minimum two years’ experience with low-income or homeless community
• Knowledge of local social service organizations
• Understanding Hawaii’s homeless community needs
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent customer service and problem-solving skills
• Proficient organizational skills with attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Valid Hawaii Driver’s License

Responsibilities

• Conduct client intake, screening, assessment, and eligibility for financial/material assistance and case management
• Process financial/material assistance per funding guidelines and policies
• Assist clients in accessing housing, employment, recovery programs, education, and other services
• Facilitate budget coaching and life skills sessions to strengthen financial stability
• Provide crisis intervention, referrals when urgent needs arise
• Refer clients to Pathway of Hope Case Manager when eligible
• Participate in team meetings, supervision and program evaluation
• Maintain up-to-date service data in HMIS and internal systems
• Assist with reporting and documentation for funders
• Maintain client privacy per HIPAA and related guidelines
• Serve as liaison with Salvation Army corps and community programs
• Participate in off-site outreach events to promote CAC services
• Demonstrate cultural humility with diverse communities
• Attend department meetings and trainings
• Perform other duties as assigned
