Riverside Regional Jail in Virginia seeks a skilled social services professional to support inmate reentry. The position involves screening to identify needs, counseling and crisis intervention, plus classroom instruction for transition into the community and family life.
Requirements include a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Criminology, Psychology or related field and at least two years of experience; correctional setting preferred. Salary is $55,894–$82,100 per year. Open until filled.
Duties: Conduct an individual screening based on inmate input to determine specific areas of need to help prepare the inmate for reentry. Acts as a liaison for the inmate to coordinate internal programming and external community services available in preparation for release.
Provide individual counseling/mentoring, and crisis intervention as needed, throughout the inmates’ period of incarceration. Provide classroom instruction in areas pertinent to the preparation of transitioning into the community, and family. Provide classroom instruction specific to the area of functional and vocational competencies to prepare for job readiness.
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Criminology, Psychology or any other human service related field. A minimum of (2) years of experience in a private, public or government sector required. Prior experience in a correctional environment preferred.
Pay: $55,894 – $82,100
