Job description

The NYC Department of Consumer and Worker Protection (DCWP) protects and enhances the daily economic lives of New Yorkers to create thriving communities. DCWP licenses more than 45,000 businesses in over 40 industries and enforces key consumer protection, licensing, and workplace laws. It supports businesses through equitable enforcement and access to resources, helps resolve complaints, and promotes a culture of compliance. DCWP's General Counsel Division seeks a Case Support Associate to ensure the integrity of the agency's business records, supporting legal operations related to the Office of Trials and Hearings (OATH).

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  1. Processing decisions, adjournments, motions to vacate, appeal decisions, and rescheduling cases in the internal database;
  2. Conducting detailed research, including preparing and communicating settlement offers;
  3. Participating in community-based training, outreach, projects, and initiatives as needed;
  4. Conducting quality assurance reviews of electronic records and documentation;
  5. Preparing spreadsheets summarizing work performed or assigned;
  6. Liaising with stakeholders, including the public, businesses, and sister agencies;
  7. Responding to inquiries from businesses;
  8. Performing administrative tasks, special projects, and other assignments as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent approved by a recognized authority and one year of satisfactory clerical experience.

Skills Requirement:

  • Keyboard familiarity with a minimum of 100 keystrokes per minute.

Preferred Skills:

  • Good written and oral communication skills;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel);
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail;
  • Flexibility for special projects;
  • Self-motivation, professionalism, and public interaction skills;
  • Critical thinking and good judgment.
