Job summary

Texas A&M University-Victoria is seeking a Manager/Health Educator to coordinate health and wellbeing services for students and to lead educational programming. You will work with campus partners to support mental, physical, sexual health and substance abuse prevention.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree, with a master’s preferred, and involves designing trainings, coordinating referrals, and maintaining confidential records.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Coordinate interventions, referrals, and follow-up for students in crisis or with behavioral needs.

• Consult with campus members seeking guidance about services for distressed students.
• Collaborate with conduct officers to address concerning behaviors.
• Participate in case conferences to ensure coordinated care and ethics compliance.

• Assist with managing health and wellbeing partnerships and communications.
• Prepare and distribute marketing materials (brochures, posters, website, social media).
• Coordinate Paw Pantry operations including ordering, inventory, and hours.
• Disseminate Title IX training participation data.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Primary Duties

• In coordination with supervisor, coordinates interventions, referrals, and follow-up services for students referred, in crisis or with behavioral needs.
• Oversees follow-up and monitoring of students in distress to evaluate progress and ensure compliance with recommendations; maintains confidential student records in Maxient and Titanium.
• Consults with campus community members who are seeking guidance about services for students in distress.
• Collaborates with Student Conduct hearing officers to address concerning behaviors.
• Participates in case conference meetings with Counseling Center staff to ensure coordination of care and ethical guideline compliance in services provided.
• Leads the design and implementation of training and health and wellbeing educational programming to promote positive mental, physical, and sexual health, and reduce substance abuse on campus.
• Develops partnerships across campus and with community agencies to provide student resources and services.
• Assists with the management of various health and wellbeing community partnerships, including the dissemination of information related to their services.
• This includes relationships with local community health centers and the university endorsed Student Health Insurance Plan.
• Prepares and distributes marketing materials, which include brochures, posters, visual aids, website, social media, and electronic materials.
• Works closely with Accessibility and Accommodation, Campus Police, Counseling Center, Equal Opportunity, Residence Life, Veteran Services, and other campus constituents; serves on various applicable committees including the CARE Team and Sexual Response Team.
• Coordinates all operations of the Paw Pantry including but not limited to ordering, stocking, inventory, marketing, and operating regular hours.
• Distributes and tracks new student engagement and completion of required Title IX training.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

• Education & Experience: Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, Health Studies, Sociology or related field.
• Preferred Qualifications: Masters degree in Counseling, Social Work, Human Services, or related field.
• Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Broad knowledge of health services with a focus on common issues college students face with regards to mental, physical, and sexual health and substance abuse Ability to work with others in a team environment, and collaborate with university and community partners Ability to interact effectively with the entire student population and have an understanding of student related issues Analytical ability to ascertain needs and identify appropriate actions Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to facilitate training and presentations Excellent communication skills and ability to draft presentation materials, correspondence, and reports Ability to maintain confidentiality, and provide referral services Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment and act upon decisions within scope of delegated authority
• Working Conditions: Work is generally performed in an office environment with adequate lighting and ventilation and favorable temperatures. Lifting of light to medium weight items

Starting Salary

Starting salary for this position is $19.39 an hour and is negotiable depending on education and experience.
