The Overdose Prevention Engagement Network (OPEN) is a diverse team dedicated to improving lives and reducing harms of substance use. By engaging with individuals, communities, and organizations, the team shares education and resources to strengthen person-centered prevention, treatment, and recovery. We are seeking a dedicated Behavioral Health Specialist specializing in Substance Use Disorder (SUD) to join our interdisciplinary healthcare team. The Behavioral Health Specialist will work on a collaborative care team of prescribing providers, nurse care managers and peer recovery coaches to provide same-day telehealth access to buprenorphine prescribing for Michigan residents with an opioid use disorder. This role requires expertise in evidence-based practices including medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD), collaboration with healthcare providers, and a commitment to improving the lives of our patients. This position is a hybrid position and does require in-office work 2-3 days per a week. Our office is located at the North Campus Research Complex in Ann Arbor. Working hours may change as the Warmline clinic evolves. Current hours are Monday through Friday 8:30AM - 5:00PM.

This position is a two-year term limited appointment (with an end date of 9/30/2027), with the potential extension, based on grant funding and performance. At the end of the stated term, the appointment may terminate and will not be eligible for Reduction in Force (RIF) benefits. This term-limited appointment does not create a contract or guarantee of employment for any period of time as you will remain subject to disciplinary or other performance measures, up to and including termination, at the will of the University in accordance with existing University policy and standards for employee performance and conduct.
This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the United Michigan Medicine Allied Professionals (UMMAP), which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment.
Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
