Job summary

The Doe Fund is seeking a Substance Abuse Counselor for its Crystal Towers Residence in Brooklyn. The role focuses on case management, counseling, and supporting residents with HIV/AIDS in a secure, residential setting.

Ideal candidates have a CASAC or LCSW and 3+ years in substance abuse counseling, with strong organizational and communication skills. The program emphasizes long-term independence and coordinated health services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or relevant field.
• CASAC/CASAC-T certification or LCSW license required.
• 1+ year experience with people who are homeless or living with HIV/AIDS.
• At least 3 years of experience in substance abuse counseling.
• Knowledge of NYC Metro benefits, HIV/AIDS, psychiatric diagnoses, and mental health issues.
• Strong computer skills – MS Office and charting database.
• Spanish language a plus.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a caseload and provide regular case management services.
• Maintain resident records in compliance with agency standards.
• Conduct and review assessments.
• Develop and implement Service Plans and assist residents with goals for self-sufficiency.
• Monitor residents' linkage to healthcare providers.
• Provide counseling and crisis intervention as necessary; assist with benefits.
• Oversee recovery readiness and relapse prevention; participate in staff training.
