Job summary

OLHSA in Pontiac, MI seeks a Family Services Advocate to build strong relationships with Early Head Start/Head Start families, assist in meeting needs and achieving family goals using agency resources. The role involves school-home liaison work across education, health, nutrition and mental health, plus enrollment coordination and data entry.

• Bachelor degree required. Bachelor degree in social work, human services, or a related field preferred, or must be willing to enroll in and successfully obtain a credential or certification in social work, human services, family services, counseling, or a related field within 18 months of hire.
• One (1) year experience working with low income families of various social backgrounds.
• Valid Michigan’s driver’s license and reliable transportation with valid automobile insurance required.
• Bilingual in Spanish a plus.
• Must be able to meet the physical demands of the job.

Physical Job Description:

Job requirements in an 8 hour workday

Sit: 1 hour- this position varies daily, driving to multiple sites, and several floors

Stand: 2 hours- picking up supplies, loading/unloading and storing them

Walk: 4 hours- interactions with children, families, and staff on a daily basis

Movements: YES- Crawl- at socializations with children and parents; Reach Above- to get books, binders, supplies; Crouch- low files, mailboxes, working with children; Balancing; Squat- working with children; Climb- climbing stairs; Shoulder Level- to get books, binders, supplies; Kneel- speaking working with children; Pushing- pushing carts of supplies, files, donations, meeting items

Weight Carried: 26-50 lbs; Weight Lifted: 26-50 lbs.

Wage & Hours:

$24.11 per hour

40 hours per week; 52 weeks per year
