Camino Real Community Services seeks a supportive Education, Employment (SEE) Case Manager to assist adolescents and young adults in obtaining job skills and pursuing continued education within the Coordinated Specialty Care program.

Under CSC Team Leader, you will engage with families and capitalize on local resources, advocating for participants with SED/SPMI. A flexible schedule and trauma-informed approach are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in social, behavioral, or human services with a minimum of 2 years in behavioral health services.
• 2+ years experience in a similar position preferred.
• Preference for ANSA/CANS HHSC assessment protocol experience.
• Training in trauma-informed care through formal training preferred.
• Experience working with individuals with persistent psychosis symptoms is a plus.

Responsibilities

Camino Real Community Services is currently implementing a specialized program focused on first-episode psychosis. The Coordinated Specialty Care (CSC) program aims to assist individuals aged 15-30 who are in the early stages of a primary psychotic disorder.

The Supportive education and supportive employment case manager (SEE case worker), under the supervision of the CSC Team Leader, will collaborate with individuals and families of adolescents and young adults experiencing severe emotional disturbance (SED) or severe and persistent mental illness (SPMI). The primary focus of this position is to provide support to individuals in acquiring job skills necessary for seeking and maintaining employment. The SEE's case worker will also assist individuals in addressing educational needs and advocating for continued education based on their strengths. Additionally, the SEE's case worker will collaborate with local stakeholders to identify available resources and effectively advocate for the specific population. This individual will work closely with the Coordinated Specialty team, providing intensive services to a caseload of up to 30 individuals and their families enrolled in the CSC program, and adhering to the statement of work. The CSC Case Manager is also responsible for developing and organizing stakeholder meetings and participating in outreach efforts. A flexible schedule is required to meet the needs of the enrollees served. The CSC SEE Case Manager should possess a good working knowledge of available community resources and must be able to build effective working relationships with those resources. The CSC program covers Wilson, Atascosa, and Frio counties.

CRCS is a trauma-informed system of care and implements the principles of trauma-informed care. Daily activities may include working in a team environment, coordinating entry into the program, providing education on understanding diagnosis, benefits of medication, and supporting mental health recovery.

Education, Minimum Qualifications, and Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major courses in social, behavioral, or human services, plus a minimum of 2 years of documented work experience in behavioral health services. At least 1 of the 2 years should be in the direct delivery of services to children and adolescents with a serious mental illness or emotional disturbance in a community mental health center.
• Prefer a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar position.
• Preference will be given to an individual with training and experience in the ANSA/CANS HHSC Assessment protocols.
• Training in trauma-informed care through class completion or other formal training.
• Experience working with individuals who experience persistent symptoms of psychosis.
