Job summary

Community NeuroRehab in Des Moines, IA seeks a field-based liaison to optimize referrals for the Brookhaven NeuroRehabilitation Network. You will develop and maintain relationships with the professional community across designated markets and coordinate funding and admissions.

Qualifications

  • Must have a bachelor’s degree.
  • Master’s degree in a clinical or rehabilitation related area preferred.
  • Eligibility or maintenance of CRNN/CCM certification and credentials.
  • 1 plus year experience preferred.
  • Must have knowledge of specialty healthcare systems related primarily to mental health, TBI, neuro-rehabilitation, disability, and case management practices.
  • Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial Insurance, and reimbursement issues preferred.
  • Competent to administer, score and interpret required psychometric instruments, conduct face‑to‑face evaluation with a person with a severe brain injury, and review and integrate medical and rehabilitation information for the purpose of patient assessment and admissions consideration.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Provide professionals with information about hospital programs.
  • Create opportunities for training and education of professionals.
  • Develop contracts for service between the hospital and payer sources.
  • Educate insurance and medical professionals.
  • Conduct evaluations of potential BNN patients in off-site locations.
  • Provide families of potential BNN patients with advocacy, support and education.
  • Coordinate admission of potential patients with outside referral source and funding (public or commercial insurance).
  • Coordinate administrative aspect of funding approval process as required by public or commercial insurance payers.
  • Initiate prospecting of potential new referral and funding sources through ongoing outreach activities.
  • Maintain existing relationships through ongoing contacts and customer service.
  • Represent organization at area, regional and national conferences to maintain and grow presence in the brain injury community.
  • Coordinate conference activity with Brookhaven speakers to maintain exposure.
  • Represent Brookhaven Hospital and the NRI program as assigned functions, meetings, and activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Demonstrates effective targeting and territory management skills.
  • Demonstrates ability to effectively communicate with professionals, consumers, and family members.
  • Demonstrates effective use of Brookhaven Hospital's account management system with existing and prospective referral sources to provide effective information about hospital services.
  • Represents the hospital at conferences and brain injury meetings and events.
  • Conduct a timely and effective evaluation of potential patients.
  • Manages time appropriation based on the maintenance of existing professional contacts (established customers) and the prioritization of new relationships.
  • Maintains and updates the database associated with liaison services.
  • Participates in ongoing self-study training of programs and services, knowledge and competitive analysis.
  • Takes responsibility for personal development and recognizes training needs (knowledge and skill development) and coordinates an action plan with input from supervisor.
  • Actively supports the hospital's ongoing referral communication and development program.
  • Makes joint calls with clinical team members that are consistent with the quarterly and annual development plan and parallel to appropriateness of service line development.
  • Consistently adheres to the hospital's referral communication policies and procedures.
  • Conducts an effective clinical assessment of potential patients and communicates those findings to Treatment Team members.
  • Performs case management activities with referral sources, potential patients, family members, and professionals.
  • Maintains positive working relationships within the facility and with other key agents of the corporation.
  • Supports the department's financial goals and has a clear understanding of the department budget.
  • Plans and produces individual 90 day/quarterly work plans that are integrated with the overall development plan and departmental budget.

Education

Bachelor’s degree
Master’s degree in a clinical or rehabilitation related area
CRNN/CCM certification
Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial Insurance
Driver’s license

In this position you will be optimizing the utilization of Brookhaven NeuroRehabilitation Network’s and Community NeuroRehab of Iowa (BNN) continuum of care by developing and maintaining relationships in designated markets with the professional community through a variety of strategic activities.
