Join to apply for the CASE MANAGEMENT TEAM LEADER role at NYC Department of Social Services.

Customized Assistance Services (CAS) helps Human Resources Administration (HRA) clients with health and/or mental health conditions reach their highest attainable level of functioning and self-sufficiency by providing comprehensive, integrated, individualized clinical and supportive services. CAS collaborates with other HRA components and external agencies to create and refine programs to maximize client outcomes.

Under the direction of the Director, the Administrative Assistant to the Director (AA to Director)/Associate Benefit Opportunity Specialist II (ABOS II) supervises a team providing eligibility, financial, employment planning, and related services for clients requesting or receiving Homebound services from HRA. The role involves supervisory, program development, research, and analytical skills to meet CAS Benefits Access Center goals.

CAS seeks to recruit one (1) Associate Benefit Opportunity Specialist II (ABOS II) who will:

  • Monitor workflow for application processing, recertifications, case reopenings, and special deals.
  • Review cases and authorize benefits as needed.
  • Ensure reports and worklists are accurate and timely.
  • Act as liaison to Rental Assistance Unit.
  • Conduct daily checks to ensure service timeliness and quality.
  • Manage teams interviewing applicants, assessing eligibility, and assisting with barriers to employment, making referrals as needed.
  • Oversee case management activities post-establishment, including ongoing eligibility and employment planning.
  • Supervise clerical and BOS staff providing walk-in or phone services, managing case changes, and coordinating with other teams.
  • Oversee housing needs assessments and develop intervention plans for at-risk tenants.
  • Monitor activities and prepare reports on unit performance.
  • Review packets before fair hearings and represent the agency effectively.
  • Prepare performance reports and implement corrective actions.
  • May conduct field visits.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent plus three years of relevant social/human services experience, or
  • Baccalaureate degree plus 18 months of relevant experience, or
  • 60 semester credits from an accredited college substituting for experience, with 18 months of relevant work experience.

Preferred Skills

  • Ability to multitask, work independently and in teams, maintain professionalism.
  • Proficient in WMS, HRA One Viewer, MS Outlook, Excel, Word, Access.
  • Strong research, problem-solving, and time management skills.
