Job summary

The New York City Police Department's Medical Division oversees the health and well-being of all service members. Case Management Nurses consult with private physicians, interview members, and evaluate treatment plans to coordinate care and return-to-duty timing.

They follow up with hospitals, monitor care quality, and provide counseling to promote health practices, reducing absenteeism while supporting family health resources.

Qualifications

• Valid NYS RN license and a BSN or an equivalent nursing degree.
• Three years of clinical nursing experience with a NYS RN license and a BSN, or five years with an ADN.
• Education/experience may be substituted per NYPD rules, but must hold NYS RN license.

CASE MANAGEMENT NURSE (POLICE - 50958)

Minimum Qualifications

• A valid New York State license as a Registered Nurse, plus a baccalaureate degree in nursing from an accredited college, and three years of clinical nursing experience; or
• A valid New York State license as a Registered Nurse, plus an associate degree in nursing from an accredited college, and five years of clinical nursing experience; or
• Education and/or experience equivalent to '1' or 2’ above. However, all candidates must have a valid New York State license as a Registered Nurse.

Note

To be assigned to Assignment Level II, candidates must have, in addition to meeting the minimum qualification requirements listed above, at least one additional year of clinical nursing experience.

Residency Requirement

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. To determine if the residency requirement applies to you, please discuss with the agency representative at the time of interview.
