Job summary

The City of San Antonio Head Start program is seeking an entry-level, grant-funded position to assist with the simpler aspects of cases. The role is primarily office-based and involves outreach, intake processing, and coordinating referrals with families and community partners at the San Antonio Head Start location.

Work hours are typically 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with a focus on program information, documentation, and collaboration with City staff.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required (or equivalent).
  • Three (3) years of experience with a social service agency or promoting a health program.
  • Valid Class C Texas Driver's License, or equivalent from another state with ability to obtain Texas license within 30 days of residency.

Job description

Under general direction, is responsible for assisting with the simpler aspects of cases. Working conditions are primarily inside an office environment but may be required to work outside in all types of weather conditions for extended periods of time and occasional exposure to hazardous materials, bodily fluids, infectious diseases and unfavorable fumes, vapors and odors. Exercises no supervision.

This position is a "grant funded" position, therefore unclassified and has no disciplinary appeal rights to the Municipal Civil Service Commission. This position is likewise subject to at-will employment status and can be terminated at any time for any reason.

Work Hours

7:45 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday - Friday

  • Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent (recognized by the Texas Education Agency or a regional accrediting agency).
  • Three (3) years of experience with a social service agency or promoting a health program.
  • This position requires a valid Class "C" Texas Driver's License OR valid driver's license from another state with the ability to obtain a valid Texas Driver's License within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Excellent Customer Service.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Data Management Systems.
  • Bilingual in Spanish.

One year of higher education is defined as 30 credit hours completed at an accredited college or university.
