Job summary

Children’s Rescue Fund in the Bronx seeks a Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) to conduct comprehensive assessments and develop individualized treatment plans. You will work within an interdisciplinary team, providing individual and group counseling focused on chemical dependency and advocating a drug‑free lifestyle.

Qualifications include a valid CASAC (no CASAC‑T), NYC navigation experience, Spanish language ability preferred, and strong written/verbal communication.

Qualifications

• Must have a CASAC with a valid OASAS certification; CASAC-T applicants will not be considered.
• Experience navigating substance use and mental health systems in NYC; 1–4 years depending on degree.
• Experience facilitating groups for homeless adults; knowledge of substance abuse and dual diagnosis.
• Spanish language proficiency preferred; ability to communicate with Spanish-speaking populations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; strong organizational and time-management skills.
• High level of computer proficiency and ability to learn new databases and software (Word, Excel).

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive evaluations to screen substance use history and develop an Individual Service Plan with clients.
• Provide individual and group counseling on substance use, relapse prevention, and harm reduction.
• Advocate for clients to access detox, rehab, and community supports.
• Serve as liaison between OASAS programs and CRF Transitional Housing Program.
• Document all client contacts and activities in case notes and CARES or similar systems.
• Coordinate with interdisciplinary team and participate in program meetings and events.
