Job summary

Chemical Abstracts Service (CAS), the scientific information solutions division of the American Chemical Society, is offering a Technology Intern for Summer 2027 on the Business Data Governance team at our Columbus, Ohio headquarters.

The internship runs May 17th, 2027, to August 6th, 2027, with exposure to state-of-the-art software and practices and opportunities to network with CAS staff and fellow interns.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Information Technology or related discipline, or business with data/programming exposure.
• Some experience with SQL, Tableau, GIT, Salesforce, Snowflake, data modeling, or Atlan is preferred.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills; able to work in an open, agile environment or independently.

Responsibilities

• Create software applications, services, and systems with an Agile Development team, delivering or enhancing CAS products or business solutions.
• Collaborate with teammates and product owners to groom backlogs of epics and stories for upcoming development.
• Engage with the Summer Intern Program to build professional relationships and broaden technical horizons.
• Stay updated on technology trends through training opportunities.

Position Summary

CAS is currently seeking a Technology Intern for Summer 2027 on our Business Data Governance team. These positions will be located in our headquarters in Columbus, Ohio. Our Summer Intern Program aims to foster a high level of engagement and learning for participants through in-depth immersion into our working environment with our professional teams. Participants will benefit from exposure to a variety of state-of-the-art software technologies and practices, while also expanding their professional network with CAS staff and fellow interns. These connections offer valuable insights into potential career opportunities.

The Internship will run from May 17th, 2027, to August 6th, 2027.

Job Accountabilities

• Create software applications, services, and systems with an Agile Development team, delivering or enhancing CAS products, content pipelines, or business solutions.
• Collaborate with teammates and product owners to groom backlogs of epics and stories for upcoming development.
• Connect across the organization through the Summer Intern Program to build influential working relationships, preparing your career for tomorrow.
• Stay abreast of the latest technology trends through individual and team training opportunities.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in the Information Technology field or a related discipline (like Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or Computer Engineering), or a Business-related degree with some data or programming experience.
• Some experience with ANY of the following is preferred: SQL, Tableau, GIT, Salesforce, Snowflake, Data Modeling, Atlan.
• Strong communication skills, teaming skills, and leadership skills
• Ability to work effectively in an open, agile software development environment as well as independently
