Job summary

A leading company is seeking a Cartographer to support the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. The role involves maintaining geospatial databases, ensuring data accuracy, and providing moderate technical support. Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Cartography/GIS related work or MA/MS Degree.

  • Strong understanding of USFWS Land Records and Cadastral Data.

Responsibilities

  • Identify discrepancies between Realty Land Record System and Cadastral Geodatabase.
  • Maintain and edit the FWS Cadastral Geodatabase with accurate data.
  • Provide GIS technical services and quality control support.

NEW Solutions connects experienced workers (ages 55+) with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS). These experienced professionals provide administrative, scientific, technical, and operational support to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service through the Experienced Services Program (ESP).

Positions listed here do not guarantee employment for any definite period. Enrollment in the Experienced Worker Programs administered by NEW Solutions is temporary. The enrollment relationship between NEW Solutions and the Enrollee is an ?at-will? relationship. This means that an Enrollee is free to terminate enrollment at any time during the enrollment period, and NEW Solutions and the Agency have the right to terminate the relationship with the Enrollee.

Qualifications

Minimum of 5 year(s) of experience in Cartography/GIS related work OR MA/MS Degree

  • Knowledge of the USFWS Cadastral Data Program, knowledge of the USFWS Land Record System
  • Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel
  • ArcGIS PRO

Duties

It is critical that the Realty Land Record System (LRS) and the Cadastral Geodatabase maintain a 1:1 relationship. Duties include identifying discrepancies between the 2 systems, along with documenting and resolving issues.

  • It is critical that the Realty Land Record System (LRS) and the Cadastral Geodatabase maintain a 1:1 relationship. Locate discrepancies between LRS and the Cadastral Geodatabase using the various tools at one?s disposal (LRS, LA acquisition records, ACME cards, online realty records, AutoCAD files, etc), and update the Cadastral geodatabase to ensure increased accuracy. 40%
  • Assists with the maintenance and editing of the Region 5 FWS Cadastral Geodatabase including research to sort out differences between the LRS and the cadastral geodatabase (survey and tract map research, data conversion, land record research). 30%
  • Provide guidance and documents research findings of the differences between the LRS and cadastral geodatabase. 20%
  • Provides GIS technical services as needed along with data archiving, quality control, and technical assistance to co-workers. 10%
