DRIVING REQUIRED: Applicants must have a valid state driver’s license, a safe driving record, and at least two years of unsupervised driving experience in the U.S. or its territories or military installations worldwide. Employment is conditional upon meeting medical, eligibility, and background check requirements.

Functional Purpose: Delivers and collects mail on foot or by vehicle, maintains public relations, and has knowledge of postal laws and local geography. May carry mail weighing up to 35 pounds and load/unload containers up to 70 pounds.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Route or case all classes of mail efficiently along established routes.
2. Withdraw, prepare, and separate mail for delivery or relay boxes.
3. Handle undeliverable mail per procedures.
4. Deliver mail on foot or by vehicle, pick up additional mail, and collect from street boxes.
5. Use portable electronic scanners as instructed.
6. Deliver and collect charges for registered, insured, and COD mail, and sign for such items.
7. Deposit collected mail at the post office.
8. Check and correct mailing cards and provide postal information and forms to customers.
9. Report unusual incidents or conditions related to mail delivery.
10. Become proficient in casing mail on other routes as assigned.
11. Collaborate professionally with colleagues.
12. Perform clerical duties as a substitute carrier and pass relevant examinations.
13. Perform additional duties such as checking establishments for undeliverable mail, delivering stamps, and serving at delivery windows.
