Driving Requirement

Applicants must have a valid state driver’s license, a safe driving record, and at least two years of unsupervised driving experience in the U.S., its possessions, territories, or U.S. military installations worldwide.

Functional Purpose

Delivers and collects mail on foot or by vehicle under various conditions, maintaining professional relations with customers, and adhering to postal laws and procedures.

Responsibilities
  1. Route and case all classes of mail efficiently along established routes.
  2. Withdraw, prepare, and load mail for delivery, including handling undeliverable mail.
  3. Deliver mail on foot or by vehicle, including pickup from relay boxes and street letter boxes.
  4. Use portable electronic scanners as instructed.
  5. Handle registered, insured, and COD mail, obtaining receipts and signing for delivery.
  6. Deposit collected mail, check mailing cards, and provide postal information to customers.
  7. Report unusual incidents or conditions affecting mail delivery.
  8. Become proficient in casing mail on other routes and work collaboratively with colleagues.
  9. Perform clerical duties as needed and pass relevant examinations.
