Job summary

Seattle Housing Authority in Seattle, WA is seeking a Carpenter Supervisor to plan, organize, and supervise staff for projects and contracts in accordance with policies and regulations.

The role requires leadership and hands-on oversight of maintenance tasks, safety compliance, and efficient project execution. Ideal candidate brings journey-level experience, supervisory background, and a valid WA driver’s license to support our community-focused housing initiative.

Qualifications

• Valid Washington Driver's License with an insurable driving record.
• Journey-level experience or equivalent in a related field.
• Two years of lead or supervisory experience.
• High School diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily maintenance and repairs, work orders, unit vacates, and inspections.
• Monitor operations for regulatory and safety compliance and continuous improvements.
• Review and inspect trade work services or projects; develop plans, scopes of work, costs, price bids, contracts, and schedules.
• Contribute to financial management including budgets, cost estimates, revenues, and expenditures.
• Prepare periodic reports on job costs and performance, including preventive maintenance.
• Plan, organize, and direct assigned trades staff; develop schedules and inspect completed work.
• Manage key control for the maintenance department.
• Respond to maintenance issues or complaints; coordinate activities with customers and other supervisors.
• Train, supervise, and evaluate assigned personnel; maintain time and performance records.
• Coordinate procurement activities including contracts and supply management.
• Evaluate and coordinate emergency or after-hour services; perform on-call work as needed.
• Oversee and supervise the hazmat team to ensure safe handling of hazardous materials and effective emergency response.
• Develop and implement service delivery improvements; coach and support staff in developing work plans.
• Ensure compliance with safety and health rules; conduct monthly self-inspections; arrange and report accident investigations.
• Participate in and support the agency's Safety and Health Program and Emergency Preparedness tasks.
